FM 98.5 The Pulse of the Valleys, Shepparton, Victoria

Delegates from across Australia converged on the city of Ballarat to attend the annual National Regional Rural and sub metro Broadcasters Conference where local radio station FM 98.5 The Pulse of the Valleys picked up swag of X-Awards, including best locally produced news and best interview.

The X Awards, which recognize excellence in community broadcasting, showcase the talent from all over Australia.
FM 98.5's News Director, Rod Shephard picked up Best Locally Produced News for the second consecutive year entry, while current affairs presenter John Harbord picked up Best Interview for the third year, Multi-Media Trainee and presenter Matt La Porta won Best In-House Production of a Show Promotion and Technician Paul Watters took home the Klotz Digital Technical Achievement Award.

Mr. Shephard said he was thrilled to win it again and it was great to see Melinda Douloudis acknowledged for her news reading skills.

"This is a reward for something I love doing anyway, you can't get much better than that - Go FM 98.5!"

General Manager Graeme Macartney said it was wonderful to see the station take out so many awards.

"The talent in our station is first class and this is a acknowledgement of the hard work put in by many."

"I am particularly proud of Matt La Porta's win as this really demonstrates FM 98.5's commitment to young people and the opportunity for them to gain skills,"
Mr. Macartney said.
FM 98.5 also took out finalist nominations in the following categories:

Best Locally Produced Music Program- Vince Vincitorio' Breakfast Program and David Fox's Drive Time show.
Best In House Production of a Sweeper- David Fox
Best Sporting Broadcast- FM 98.5 Football Commentary Team
Best Locally Produced News- Melinda Douloudis
And Best In House Production of a Sponsorship Announcement
